"Smart with no effort at all."

Between back-to-back meetings I've no patience for fussing over an outfit. Pulled this on before an early start and a colleague said I looked well on it. All down to the cloth, which has a proper heft. Just right now the mornings have turned cold.

"The wife told me to keep it on. Enough said."

Put it on ahead of a dinner out and my wife told me to leave it exactly as it was. The fabric keeps its shape right through the night and never creases. Proper bit of kit for the colder stretch ahead. Two more already ordered.

"Kept quiet about where it's from."

Everyone keeps asking what's changed about the way I dress and I've said nothing. The material is thick and dense, actually blocks the autumn chill on the walk in. Nothing loud about it. That's the whole reason it works.

"She thought I was Italian."

First time buying clothes online in a while and I was nervous about the fit. Came in spot on. Wore it to a dinner by the water on a cold evening and stayed warm all night. My date reckoned I was Italian. I'm from Sheffield. I'll take it.

Wore it to my dad's birthday meal. He's 73 and near impossible to please. Halfway through he leaned over and said I'd finally worked out what good clothes are. He even reached across to feel the cloth. That's rare praise from him.

"Never wore burgundy before. I do now."

My wife picked it as a gift and I wasn't sure about the colour. Turns out the deep autumn shade is bang on. Three blokes at Sunday brunch asked where it was from. The material feels expensive in the hand. Ordered two more since.

"They thought the boat was mine."

Weekend down at a mate's marina. Had it on Saturday morning with dark jeans. By ten a couple on the pier had me pegged as the owner of one of the boats. It isn't mine, but the cloth is heavy enough to stand up to the wind off the water, so I see why they thought it.

"Years chasing this. Finally cracked it."

Spent a fair bit over the years trying to nail this look. The fabric weight here is exactly right, substantial without being stiff, and it drapes properly rather than sitting flat. Great for layering through autumn. Worn it four times, a comment every time.

A mate turned up to a barbecue better dressed than the rest of us. Turned out it was James Wenman. Ordered the same night. Fits perfectly at 6ft and just under 13 stone, and the fabric is a clear step up from anything else I own.
